New School Tattoo – what does that mean? Its definition changes per artist and generation.

From our portfolio it’s a surrealistic style using bold colors with a strong light source. It could be anything from whimsical characters smoking cigars to an Octopus smiling eagerly with open arms. It’s the creepy rabbits, the twin birdies, the sacred hearts idling with smoke – its those characters that laugh with a bit sarcasm.

Its intention at first was informal display in 1941 with GI’s in War World II. With the comeback of traditional sailor tattooing and fashion (Rockabilly) the pin-up is the pinnacle of this era and so has the growing request from collectors. Artist now are applying their own twist with Pin-Ups of Devils, Angels and the in-between.
